ENSURING EDUCATION FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN

We believe education forms the backbone for developing communities throughout the world.

High quality learning provides immediate improvements to the lives of the local population and allows the economy to flourish over the long term into something much more substantial and robust.

Education programmes also form an anchor for communities which have few other resources. Learning creates a more optimistic and less conflict-prone atmosphere. For children, AMAR does this by supplementing the existing school classes, while for adults we provide academic and vocational training courses which enable beneficiaries to gain practical skills and develop their knowledge to find work or start their own businesses.

SCHOOL FACILITIES

We build and rehabilitate educational facilities for communities in need, ensuring access to safe, clean classrooms and provide additional infrastructure in an environment conducive to successful learning.

OFFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS

After completing our education courses, students obtain official qualifications approved by the Ministry of Education to help integrate them back into the mainstream education system or secure eligibility for employment.

CHILDCARE

As part of our comprehensive education package, AMAR runs childcare facilities for the poorest families in society allowing their parents, especially mothers, the freedom to take part in crucial training sessions.

AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING

We deliver after school tutoring to allow children the time and space required outside of school hours to go over lessons and receive additional help with subjects they might find challenging.

ADULT EDUCATION

We work closely with the Ministry of Education to run a variety of continuing education programmes for adults ranging from literacy and numeracy courses to trainings for national exams and qualifications.

HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION

We deliver tailored courses on human rights, the rule of law and citizenship to women, university students, tribal leaders, prison inmates and guards, and government employees working in border control and policing.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

We continue to build the capacity of our educators by encouraging professional skills development for those involved in the delivery of our programmes including helping teachers to understand best practices in the field.

ADVANCING CIVIL SOCIETY

We empower local communities to organise, raise support and know their rights because we know civil society organisations are critical to a community’s ability to represent itself at the local, regional and national level.

RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE

We work to end discrimination and violence against minorities and promote tolerance between religious groups by engaging key stakeholders in training and community projects that help address the issues that they face.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

We help entrepreneurs start their own businesses and help communities find gainful employment by delivering important skills training classes such as sewing, hairdressing, construction, engineering and more.

COMMUNITY LEADERS

We work with local community, tribal and religious leaders to help them better understand the tools and functions of leadership and provide practical training in areas like public speaking to help advocate for their communities.

DRUGS AWARENESS

We run national campaigns to educate children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, to raise awareness about the problems associated with drug use and to engage parents so they can better identify symptoms of addiction.
