Health Education

AMAR RUNS WIDE-RANGING HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMMES BUILDING KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO PROMOTE LONG-TERM IMPROVEMENTS TO PUBLIC HEALTH.

Health education is woven throughout AMAR’s projects because we recognise the importance of learning as a method of ingraining healthy behaviour into everyday life. Designing curricula in close partnership with the Ministries of Health and Education, AMAR delivers health education in schools, providing regular teaching for pupils, their families and local communities.

Alongside health education in schools, AMAR supports the wider population through its mobile health clinics, a programme of health education in the community for community leaders, elected officials and other adults, and through the education provided to and by the Women Health Volunteers.

As professional development and capacity building is integral to AMAR’s work, all Ministry of Education teachers and health educators delivering sessions receive monthly training, enabling them to gain professional development from their involvement in AMAR programmes. Through health education programmes, AMAR builds knowledge and raises awareness of the available public health services, while changing behaviours to create healthier and more empowered communities in generations to come.
