Value for money

AMAR has a proven track record of using funding in the most effective and efficient way, maximising the impact of every pound spent to improve the lives of vulnerable families. In 2016, our total expenditure was £7,3942,476. Out of this, 90p in every £1 was spent in country on our projects. Administration costs were just 8p in every £1, and fundraising took just 2p in every £1. You can see an overview of our accounts here.
AMAR has stringent financial and project management controls both in-country and at Head Office level, designed to maximise cost-effectiveness and ensure that all spending is verified. AMAR is both a registered charity and a registered company in the United Kingdom, as such it is obliged to provide annual accounts to both the Charity Commission and Companies House. AMAR is also a registered charity in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. All AMAR’s work is independently audited at least once annually in-country before being incorporated into the UK accounts for the purposes of producing annual accounts for the organisation as a whole. Additional financial audits also take place for specific projects. This transparency and accountability in AMAR’s operations helps ensure that value for money remains a high priority and can be demonstrated throughout AMAR’s work.
