Provision Of Potable Water
AMAR PROVIDES CLEAN, FRESH WATER TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THROUGH PURIFICATION PROJECTS, REHABILITATION OF PUMPING STATIONS AND TREATMENT PLANTS, AND PROVISION OF REVERSE OSMOSIS UNITS.
Lack of clean, drinkable water is a significant contributor to poor health among refugees and internally displaced communities. It can cause significant illness including diarrhoea, amoebiasis, salmonella and shigellosis, as well as increasing the likelihood of epidemics of major diseases such as cholera or typhoid fever which can be fatal.
Provision of clean water to communities is therefore a simple, yet significantly beneficial, element of AMAR’s work. AMAR conducts water purification projects within camps for refugees and internally displaced persons, rehabilitates water pumping stations and treatment plants, and provides Reverse Osmosis Units. These projects provide clean, fresh water to tens of thousands of people, drastically reducing ill health among communities.
