AMAR welcomed over 270 guests to its ‘Bollywood Nights’ Gala Dinner at The Savoy Hotel in May where high energy performances by Sky 1’s Got to Dance semi-finalists, Bolly-Flex, helped to set the tone of the evening.
Guest speaker and broadcast journalist, Zeinab Badawi, spoke of the importance of AMAR’s work in the context of women’s rights and education across the Muslim World. Charlie Thomas from Bonhams conducted the auction where one item alone raised enough money to support 22 Women Health Volunteers and two Supervisors, for a whole year.
The evening was a particularly special occasion for AMAR as it marked the last event for four members of our London Fundraising Committee – May, Patrice, Tala and Mariam – who stepped down from their positions after almost a decade of supporting AMAR’s work. In that time, they raised significant sums of money for AMAR as well as facilitating introductions, and the AMAR team will always be grateful for all their efforts on our behalf.
